Recently, the U.S. admitted its 10,000th Syrian refugee, reaching its goal of admitting 10,000 Syrian refugees for the fiscal year. National security adviser, Susan Rice, stated that the president understands “the important message this decision would send, not just to the Syrian people but to the broader international community.”
Syria is the world’s largest source country of refugees, with over 4.9 million people fleeing the country due to its civil war. Countries like Germany and Canada have admitted a significantly higher number of refugees compared to the U.S. However,

Refugees face turbulence and uncertainty after being uprooted from their families, culture and country. The Daniel Society will join other humanitarian efforts to help refugee families in transition. We are gearing up to provide basic resources such as clean clothes, food and water to families living in detention facilities and camps in Europe. Similarly, our Central American Asylum Project is providing legal relief to children fleeing gang violence in countries like El Salvador.
